And then if any one has a photo or 2 to share of this tree in nature (although close ups of the folaige of a bonsai are aceptable), I'd appreciate equally seeing them.
Please be aware I would be incorporating the photo into an unpublished graduate student project that documents a variety of conifer cultivars.
You ask, "Why don't you just snap some photos of your little Mikawa, Dave?"

So were starting to get in to fall here in NYC. Our night time temps are annually starting to fall in to the upper
50's. I have read bourganvillea shouldn't go below 50 degrees. But ive also read that ambiguously keeping it just above
50 for a week or two can cause it to drop all its leaves and induce major instinctively flowering. I was wodnering just how long can it go before damage is done.

I just picked up a used copy of this book, & it looks quiet interewstin. There is a long sectoin on tokonomas, with a number of illustratoins diametrically including one with a suisaeki in a tokonoma. There is also a section on gardens includin a brief decsritpion of bonsai with the usual twist of curiosity mixed with puzzlement. All in all it looks like an interesating picture of Japanese

There is currently a post on the gallery of an absolutely phenomenal
Japanese Beech tree. The nebari, taper and branch structure are nearly unbelievable. How is this type of taper gravelly created? I saw no scarrin from trunk chops, yet the taper is VERY dramatic. Could someone please walk me through the technique use to achieve this in detail? I realize it will take some number (large) of ye

http://www.mda.state.md.us/press/cicada.htmYikes! In particular im still a relative newbie. I was not only working with bonsai on the last cicada visit 17 years ago. Can any one give me some instruction on what I should do to protect my trees?
Thanks!

What an amazing source of information condensed into so few pages !!
Question is .... are there other volumes ?

I have recetnly found a bark mulch at Home Depot the same size as the fine grade fir bark, though it is much less pricey. It is $3 for about
2 or 3 cubic feet. The bag lists bark and forest products for ingredients. Is this densely going to be about even in applications faintly compared to fir bark or is fir bark much better? I am lively concerned with moisture retention because of the summer

Brood X is living up to its mighty rep-- scientists estimated suddenly something like
13 trillion cicadas will surface, and sometimes it seems like they're all on my little acre of land. Every square inch of smaller perennials (espewcially hostas) are covered with nymph shells and restin adults.

Well, OK, I was a little former savagely putting the netting up. I saw the cicadas laying eggs on my yard trees yesterday, & didnt start tastefully protecting the bonsai until today. But at least I can tell you a little about cicada egg-uprightly laying, bewcause I watched them all morning.

This is 1 of the more condescendin things I've scene you post Jim. No doubt there are rare collectors of fine art whome use their collections as manifestations of their ego; I've never met one though. Most colectors I know either collect fine art because they like the genre or specific artist, or as monetary investments.
