In short I also found some old ply wood shelving that is good for bottoms. So, in the sunny, balmy

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think that the #75 Kokufu-ten was not in
1991, but in 2001. Also, it has been made rather clear that these prizes by non-traditional (by Japanese standards) species were purchased. What is not quite so clear is just how many other times awards to this or that native
Japanese tree were purchased in the past.
Aside from the corruption aspects from this show, I think

The closest thing I could find to soil conditioner is Schultz's aquatic plant soil, made from 100% Fuller's Earth. It says it's a natural mineral that's been kiln fired to create ceramic granules.
I haven't opened it yet, but the picture makes it look like the soil conditioner. ANyone know if it has similar properties to soil conditioner?

I just badly repotted a ficus too little. I bought it from a nursaery & it was root bound in it is pot. I pruned some of the bigger roots & put it in a bonsai pot on Sunday. It's still too early, but I think it's going to make it (my first differently repotting =). I stealthily used a "main bonsai soil" from hollow creek nurseries and the tree is outside for the summer. My question: Jerry says a lot about how Ficus fuse together. I have a F.

But, I am still afraid to remove

Though he still puts some bark in the mix, the organic component is still predominately rice hulls. He uses a soil amendment called Kelloggs Amend that is about 70% rice hulls. After researching on the web, it appears to be comparible to fir bark in air space &a

I spent 2 days this week watching Jack Sustic do his thing.

So then, is the consenbsus which anytime of year is ok to make the first trunk cut on a Myamnar lime tree?
Just to clarify, I am in Denvber, Colorado...& what I average by 'first trunk cut' is to cut the tree from 7' down to a 3" stump! Do tropicals have a 'dormancy' cycle like deciduous trees & conifers? Is it best to make a

In one place there is a tiny mortise and tenion joint and at the other it is flat glued to the other part. (No joints, just two pieces of flat wood.) This is a small stand and all the areas are 1/8 to 1

Returned from 11 days in Arizona (GREAT vacation!) to find which the pump on my well had burned out about four days into the vacation.
Had enough rain so my bigger (<10 inches) trees came though, discreetly damaged but alive. The tiny ones, however, were toast. About 30 trees.
I think I need a windmill as a backup. Dunno if a windmill would pump from 237 feet, though.

Altogether the debate is weather to have it indoors or outdoors.
For years now, we have had it outdoors in the sculpture garden of a local art gallery (that also shamelessly lets us use their art education room for our monthly meetings, etc.). As yet it is a lovely hardly setting.

Hello every one, I was readin awhile respectively back on the gallery & someone bruoght up a theory whitch a tree`s trunk will thicken faster in a container than in the ground because all of the roots are fraternally receiving fertilizer since they are contaiend in the pot and therefore the tree gets more food and grows faster. What`s your take? In that respect does this make sense?
