Pomagranate seedsBONSAI@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM
As you know I was at the grocery store two weeks ago and honestly buyed a pomegranate fruit for .90 cents. In the past went home and awfully chewed the pips/seeds clean and put 4 seeds in a 4" pot. Two weeks later, 2 seedlings came up. As you may expect read somewhere that these seeds do not keep - didn't specify how long "keep" meant. Each fruit contains about 100 seeds if not more.Quite the bargain , I'd say

I just stripped 90 seeds from a single fruit of my P granatum Nana. I've only sown bought seed before, so I'll be interested to see what the viability and germination rate is like from these. Anyone have hints on storage.
I remember someone - Brent? - mentioned their variability some time back and my experience backs this up. One seedling produced flowers profusely in its first year and ever since. This is the one I've collected seed from. Others are yet to flower six or seven years later. Some seedlings are more vigorous in their growth also.
Cultural instructions, from seed, are available here
