Re:Recued Ficus from Walmart
Hi Mikey,
You say it is "Microcarpa"? the tag said "benjamina" but to be honest I have questioned the tag from the start. It was the trunk that made me question the tag. It being the light gray color and having all the little white nodules and stripes on it. I'b been calling it Ben I guess now I will have to start refering to it as Mic. :woohoo: Thanks.

The benjamina leaves are much more narrow, lighter in color and curl at the ends. At least that is what mine is doing. :woohoo:

Re:Recued Ficus from Walmart
Thanks for the enlightenment guys. Like I said I was questioning the tag. ( but thought the store should know what it has in stock) on the other hand this is walmart. And yes I think I got lucky on this one. Even with the broken branch,Which has healed nicely this should make a nice addition to my future collection Six and counting. :P

Re:Recued Ficus from Walmart
Sounds like you have a forest starting there, Mic :woohoo: good one, the name of the tree is called a "Tiger Bark Ficus" because of the way the bark looks on the tree, good luck with them..

Re:Recued Ficus from Walmart
Hi Sain,
No it was only ten dollars so I just took it as is. The first thing I did when I got it home was to remove those stupid rocks. (They really glue those damned things in.) Then I repotted it into a larger pot with regular potting soil so it could recover. I bent the crack back into place and filled it with superglue, because I didn't have anything else at the time,
hmy: but any way as you can see it is thriving and doing very well. thank the Bonsai Goddess.

Re:Recued Ficus from Walmart
They are all different trees except for 2 Fukien teas. The others are the Ficus, My Serissa, and the Jade tree ( which has toughened up and is making new shoots again) And I have a Rosemary which I trained into a windswept. My next project is to try to graft a couple Sheffleras together, and turn them into one big Bonsai. I know you think I'm crazy, but I have a plan. I figuer it will take about 3 years total:laugh: if it works. But I got nothing to loose I rescued them from a mulch pit.
