My Bonsai Profile (as at March 2015)
I'm based in the UK in the south east.
My first tree was a Christmas present in 2013 - a fairly cheap Chinese elm. Over the summer of 2014 I got a ginkgo biloba, a Norway Spruce and a chinese peeper tree all at the lower end of the market. So far I've worked on the basics of keeping
them all alive - watering, trimming, feeding and a couple of re-pottings. I'm gradually learning about styling and development.
I would summarise myself in bonsai terms as an enthusiast beginner still learning a lot and enjoying it.
I've added to the collection with a Chinese Juniper, a hornbeam and in the starter tree area 3 maples and 5 golden privet all for planting out.
A couple of Japenese Larch, 10 Hazel trees from the garden centre planted in the ground. A couple of sawara false cypress also purchased and turned into "instant" bonsai.
20 small box purchased for growing on and 15 other starter trees of differing varieties from a bonsai nursery.
Have joined the Chiltern Bonsai Society to learn from the good folk there at their monthly meetings.
